  1. So what do you think of this… During times of economic depression (i.e. the recent past, 1930s, etc…) the US seems to vote in Democrats for the presidency. During times of economic upturns, the US vote in Republicans (i.e. late 90s). Coincidence or is there a trend here?

    • Agree 100%. The Republicans are the “default” party of sorts. When the economy is good and there is no major issue, the country falls back on the Republicans. Then when there is a problem or downturn, they immediately run to the Democrats and blame the Republicans, even if it is not warranted. It is possible to point to some exceptions, but for the most part I think it’s a safe assumption.

      • Hmm….Hard economic times ergo Democrats = Good economic times ergo Republicans = Economic downturn ergo Democrats.

        Vicious cycle that the Republicans don’t seem to win. 😉
